Want to create an infographic but don’t have the budget to pay an outsourcer to do the job?
Well, there are several ways to build your own infographic and general graphics content without draining your bank account. In this post I am going to introduce you to a great free infographic creator for generating all the graphics you could possibly want – for free.
The platform I speak of is called Canva. You can set up a free account (yes there are also premium paid services) that will allow you to build top quality, professional looking graphics for your website, social media and general marketing needs.
You can create postcards, flyers, infographics and social media branding graphics as well as store them on the site. When you have created your graphics you can then download the file to your desktop or share it on social media accounts.
Here are some of the types of graphics and their sizes that you can create using Canva. Pinterest and Google + are also covered!
- Email Headers (600 px x 200 px)
- Social Media Graphic (800 px x 800 px)
- Presentations (1024 px 768 px)
- Posters (42 cm x 59.4 cm)
- Facebook Covers (851 px x 315 px)
- Facebook Post (940 px x 788 px)
- Instagram Post (640 px x 640 px)
- Blog Graphic (800 px x 1200 px)
- A4 Document (21 cm x 29.7 cm)
- Card (14.8 cm x 10.5 cm)
- Twitter Post (1024 px 512 px)
- Business Cards (8.5 cm 5 cm)
The site provides hundreds of free icons and characters as well as templates and background graphics. If you want something different they also have graphics you can purchase starting from a dollar! So this is what the home page of the site (Canva.com) looks like.
Just enter your email and a password and soon you will be sent an email link to verify your account. Then you can go to you dashboard and start selecting the components of your graphic.
Here is a simple infographic I built in around 5 minutes. You can change background colors, add text, add images that you upload or simply type in a keyword and press enter – Canva will return with hundreds of images and icons for you to use.
The images will have either “free” or “$1” appended to them. So you will know what you can use without charge.
So there is no excuse for not having access to professional looking graphics that you can use anywhere you choose.
