Need Help Starting Small Business Venture?

You may already have an idea in your mind on what you want your small business to be about.  For example, say you are wanting to sell a certain product line. Be sure you know the ins and outs of those products, and then be sure to calculate all of the funds that are going to be associated with starting up the business.

All to often entrepreneurs need help starting small business ventures, but don’t seek assistance. One of the biggest causes of failure is lack of capital. Any business needs capital to start it up and keep it running until the revenues begin to replace your invested money.

Marketing will play a large part in your success and needs to be budgeted for – no matter how small the allocated monies.

Set Goals

Do you have any goals in mind? You should before you set everything in stone. Try to come up with a short-term goals and a long-term goals. When I say long term I am talking 12 months. This is all you should plan for initially. Short term is 90 days (or a quarter).

Do you want financial independence? Do you want more than financial independence? It’s important to know what you want, so you can go for it.

Solo Or Team?

Do you want to go into this business solo, or are you looking to have a partner or employees  as well? Maybe you have a friend or two who you want to start the business with. It’s important to know all of this ahead of time.  Sometimes, people are better at creating a long-term business when they have a supportive, successful friend on their team.

However, sometimes others are just satisfied working alone. Which one sounds more like you?

Be Sure To Choose Wisely

If you do decide that you want to start your business with someone, make sure that it’s someone you trust completely. Even when you go to hire workers (if you do), be sure to interview them completely and thoroughly to ensure that you are choosing them wisely.

Be sure the other person will share your vision and values, and see eye-to-eye with you on different things.

Business Description

You’re going to need to describe your business and how it will fit into the market. Think about:

  • Is there a demand for what you are selling?
  • Who are your ideal target customers?
  • How should you market your product?
  • How will the product be positioned?
  • What is the Unique Selling Proposition of your business?
  • What Marketing, Sales & Distribution channels will be appropriate?
  • Describing your products’ benefits and features along with why customers will want them
  • What pricing model will ensure your product is affordable for your customers whilst returning you a decent profit?

Are your eyes rolling in your head yet? I know, it looks overwhelming but leaving out critical components of the whole jigsaw that is business will set you up for failure.
